About color The palettes used in this site have been mostly sampled directly from first generation high quality screenshots. This was done to restrict color drift as much as possible; however there may still be some small variations between browsers and user setups. For general purposes, this should be so close as to not be distinguishable to the human eye. Colors will also vary greatly from piece to piece. Color is just one part of the overall package in determining final results in the game world. Each item of clothing has underlying textures and shading that will affect the final appearance and may make a color look darker or different than a pure swatch. Some items (like Wookiee wear for instance) can also have hue shading which will affect and mix with colors used. Wookiee wear in general tends to have a greenish cast which selected colors modify – this is more noticeable on some pieces than others. If you ask for white for instance, and the best your tailor can come up with is a greenish-white, they aren't colorblind – that IS what passes for white on that piece. This is especially true on anything that uses either of the leather palettes. How to mix colors is often asked. It's beyond the scope of this site to go into color theory, but there are many great sites that do if you want to double check choices or simply get ideas on what would look good with what. A simple tutorial of basic color theory can be found at http://www.colorschemer.com/tutorial1.html . http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html is an online color scheme generator. If you enter a primary color via hex code (which will show when you pick a color from available palettes) you can get an idea of complimentary colors. Another great page on simple color theory is http://www.hypermedic.com/color/index.php Bear in mind that although you can get perfect matches by generating colors on the fly we are restricted to the palettes available in game – so closest match is what you are looking for. For most purposes – simple eyeballing of color combinations that are pleasing to you is sufficient. And if all else fails – red and black is a classic combination. Color naming is also a nebulous subject – and every tailor tends to have favorites within the available palettes that they name. As long as this naming convention is maintained within a tailor's own product, matching of colors by the customer is expedited. Note that the same name may NOT refer to the same colors between charts, but should be complimentary. Black on one palette or piece may not be the same exact shade in another palette or piece. Indeed REAL ‘black' and ‘white' don't exist in anything but the dress robe palette and the darkest and lightest colors are usually assigned those names and may not look like black or white at all on a swatch. White for instance is usually passing for the lightest gray available. For all the clothing palettes on one page take a look at the tabled palettes , bearing in mind the results in game are NOT going to match exactly. Charts of character colors on one page are here if you'd like to see examples of skintones, haircolors, etc. to compare to clothing colors.
